The Cape Ann Plein Air Gala is this Saturday night, October 15, 2016 from 6-10 PM at Rockport Art Association. Tickets are $60 and 100% of the ticket price may be applied to the sale of a CAPA painting. Mix, mingle and meet the juried artists from around the country. You’ll have the opportunity to acquire award winning works freshly painted on location from over 40 artists.

There is also a dinner at the Gloucester House Restaurant on Friday, October 14 from 6:30-8:00 PM that is free for CAPA artists.  $25 for family and guests.

Organist Peter Krasinski performs ‘Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde’ at the Gloucester Meetinghouse on Sunday, October 23, 6:00pm

A thrilling family event: silent horror film classic ‘Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde’ accompanied by organist Peter Krasinski at the Gloucester Meetinghouse on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 6:00pm.  The  program is sponsored by Cape Ann Savings Bank and ticket proceeds benefit the Meetinghouse Foundation Preservation Fund.

World-renowned sonic artist Peter Krasinski performs on the grand 1893 Hutchings-Fisk pipe-organ in the historic 1806 Meetinghouse, improvising accompaniment to 2 silent film classics:  the Buster Keaton comedy, ‘The Haunted House’ and the scary main feature ‘Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde.’  This Halloween season event opens with a fun costume parade and an impressive organ prelude followed by the 2 movie features.

The Gloucester Meetinghouse is located at the corner of Church & Middle Street with an accessible side entrance at 10 Church Street.  Admission is $15 General, $12 Students & Senior (65+), kids under 12 free.  For more information please visit http://www.gloucestermeetinghouse.org

About Chris: Waddell was inducted into the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame and the Paralympics Hall of Fame. The Dalai Lama honored him as an “Unsung Hero of Compassion”. People Magazine named him one of the “Fifty Most Beautiful People in the World”. Skiing Magazine placed him amongst the “25 Greatest Skiers in North America”. Middlebury College presented him with a Doctorate in Humane Letters. National Public Radio (NPR) named his 2011 commencement address to Middlebury College as one of “The Best Commencement Speeches, Ever.”

Seaside Garden Club Presents Melissa Glorieux of Aster B. Flowers on October 11th

 

The program will be held at the Manchester Community Center. Social time begins at 7:00 pm and the program begins promptly at 7:30 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  All are welcome. $5 guest fee for non-members.

Founder, farmer and lead designer at Aster B. Flowers, Melissa Glorieux, will talk about her experience as a self-taught flower farmer and floral designer.  She will also discuss the Slow Flower Movement and how the locally-grown trend has been formative in the evolution of her farm and business.
