Demonstration July 21st 2pm Pop Up Show July 16 -21st John Caggiano, a long time Cape Ann artist, will demonstrate his skills painting with brushes and palette knives. His oil palette, which has evolved over many years, is large and varied. It contains many colors, most of which are utilized in every painting. He will most likely paint from photos unless it is feasible to move outside on the grounds of the Northshore Arts Association, in which case he will choose a subject from the surrounding area. Questions from the audience will be welcomed. If time permits, he will be happy to critique a painting that you bring with you as long as you are willing to share it with all in attendance. Aside from the Northshore Arts Association, John Caggiano is an elected member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Academic Artists, Hudson Valley Art, Lyme Art and Rockport Art – Associations. Annually he is a juried and invited artist in up to a dozen plein air events around the country including Cape Ann Plein Air. Some recent awards are the Texas Ranchland Award from En Plein Air Texas, the Guerrilla Painters Award from Wayne (PA) Plein Air Festival and Second Place in the Marine Art Exhibition at the Lyme Art Association. John Caggiano’s art may be viewed on Facebook, JohnCaggiano.com or at his gallery on Bearskin Neck in Rockport, Massachusetts founded in 1981.

Fee $5 Suggested Donation Over the decades, art enthusiasts have looked to North Shore Arts Association for their introduction to and ongoing involvement in the arts. As part of NSAA’s commitment to fostering the fine arts and its dedication to community outreach, NSAA is offering these open sessions. A call to artists – beginners, intermediate, all levels are welcome to stop by and work on their own personal projects. This is a great way to meet other artists, socialize, exchange ideas and broaden your knowledge. Meet new friends and immerse yourself in the Cape Ann arts community! The goal is to develop increased knowledge and skill that comes from sharing and critiquing each other’s work. We welcome participants suggestions to help this program evolve. How it works – These sessions are informal gatherings and offer no formal instruction. The studio/gallery is open to anyone, from professional artists to amateurs. The grounds of the NSAA are also an option! Participants provide all of their own materials: easels, paints, canvas, paper towels, drop-cloths, etc. Artists are asked to pay $5 each. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. We reserve the right to cancel a session if no one has signed up in advance. If you’re planning to attend, we recommend making a reservation. 978.283.1857 or arts@nsarts.org
