SeniorCare Honors Lafontaine at 46th Anniversary Gala

SeniorCare Inc. will host its 46th Anniversary Gala Celebration on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Danversport, located at 161 Elliott Street in Danvers, MA. The Gala will feature a delicious dinner, dancing to the sounds of Madhouse and a Silent Auction. The Gala is presented by ABC Home Healthcare Professionals.

SeniorCare will honor three community leaders at the Gala.  Mary Ann Camp of Rockport will be presented with the Myra L. Herrick Outstanding Older American Award. Julie Hazen LaFontaine of The Open Door will be presented with the Rosemary F. Kerry Community Service Award. William Coughlin of Beverly will be presented with the Board of Directors Community Partners Special Recognition award.

Rotary Pancake Breakfast this Saturday

GLOUCESTER ROTARY PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Come for the Pancakes, Stay for the Waterfront Festival!

The Rotary Club of Gloucester MA will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Stage Fort Park, located on Hough Avenue in Gloucester, MA.  This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, which is sponsored by the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and is held in Stage Fort Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 18-19, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days. A special FREE parking area is available for Pancake Breakfast attendees.

Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are $8 per person and are available from any Gloucester Rotarian or at the following Gloucester locations:

SeniorCare presents A Matter of Balance workshop

SeniorCare Inc. will host a free 8-week workshop, A Matter of Balance, at their offices located at 49 Blackburn Center in Gloucester, MA, on Mondays, starting on September 10 and ending November 5, 2018. Each session will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.

Participants learn to:

  • View falls as controllable
  • Set goals for increasing activity
  • Make changes to reduce the risk of falling
  • Exercise to increase strength and balance

Who should attend?

  • Anyone concerned about falls
  • Anyone who has fallen in the past
  • Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling
  • Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength

MIXED: A Cocktail Competition to benefit Action Inc.!

There can be only one: 8 bartenders, 4 rums, one winner. Join us as 8 of the North Shore’s best bartenders battle to create the ultimate cocktail. You’ll watch as they mix their drink for the judges and you’ll get to sample some of the cocktails for yourself and help crown the “crowd favorite”.

While you’re sampling cocktails, Mile Marker One will provide some hearty appetizers (included in the ticket price) and post-competition, enjoy the live band we’re bringing with us!

It gets better: Proceeds from the night will benefit Action Inc, a non-profit based in Gloucester that offers affordable housing, homelessness prevention, fuel assistance, energy conservation programs, education and job training.
