Please consider a donation to GEF’s year-end appeal before 12/31 to help support thousands of more kids like Rebecca, Trinity, Olivia, AJ, Thea and Nate. The programs that sparked their love for music, engineering, science, dance, theater and community – and led them to labs at Harvard and Northeastern; stages at Emerson, Suffolk, and Berklee; and tall ships sailing to St.Croix! – were make possible by the generosity of the Gloucester community. Over 20 years, YOU have helped raise over $11M for GEF! Thank you!

Yesterday, Gloucester’s middle school band lit up the O’Maley stage with a joyful, high-energy performance that showed just how transformative music education can be.
Thanks to a recent $10,000 grant from Music Drives Us, the elementary and middle school band programs continue to grow and thrive, serving over 200 4-8th graders at no cost to families.
But with $60,000 still to raise this school year,GEF and GPS need the community’s support to ensure that the opportunity to learn an instrument remains available to every Gloucester student in grades 4-8. Every donation helps!

GEF released its FY25 Impact Report today, “In Their Hands: The Power of Experiential Learning”. This colorful report highlights 30 hands-on programs led by talented Gloucester educators who go above and beyond to help students learn by doing. With nearly $475,000 invested in GPS this school year, GEF sees that the Gloucester community is steadfast in their support for our schools and experiential learning. We hope you’ll help keep that momentum going with a gift to our spring appeal!

The Gloucester Education Foundation and Gloucester Public Schools are thrilled to bring back the Gloucester Student Arts Festival for its 14th year, a daylong celebration of the arts in the Gloucester Public Schools!
The festival will feature indoor exhibits of student work at City Hall and the Cape Ann Museum, and an outdoor block party on Warren Street and in the CAM Courtyard with performances, live music, art-making workshops, and food trucks. Visual and performing arts from grades Pre-K-12 will be showcased, with the goal of every student in Gloucester represented in at least one way. All 3rd, 5th and 8th graders will also have work on display at the Cape Ann Museum, and GHS seniors will be highlighted in a curated show at City Hall, with an opening reception on Friday 5/17. A closing concert by Dis n Dat, a band selected by GHS students, will take place from 3-4pm in the CAM Courtyard.
This all-ages event will be a destination for families, community members, artists, and visitors. Join us for a day of joyful creativity and art! Visit http://www.thinkthebest.org/news1/artsfest24 for details. Final schedule will be posted 5/1/24.
