The Gloucester Rotary has published a 12-month Cape Ann photo calendar for 2024, featuring the photography of several local photographers. In addition to the beautiful photography, each calendar includes a raffle ticket for a $50 weekly raffle drawing throughout the year. The calendars are $25 each and proceeds from sales will be used for the Gloucester Rotary’s many community and international activities. The calendars are available for purchase at the Weathervane Gift Shop, located at 153 Main Street in Gloucester (phone 978-281-1227), at BankGloucester, located at 160 Main Street in Gloucester (978-283-8200), and from any Gloucester Rotary member. To celebrate their Centennial Anniversary, the Gloucester Rotary will host a free Community Concert with musical guests Captain Jack & The Strangers (The Northshore’s Premier Billy Joel Tribute Band) and opener Brandon Blatchford & the Wannabe Teenagerson on Friday, August 11, 2023, 6-10pm at the Antonio F. Gentile Bandstand in Stage Fort Park.
The celebration will include food and beverages for purchase from 5 Star Phresh-Phood and Harbor Tap Trailer!
Tickets are now available to the annual Gloucester Rotary Comedy Night, featuring Carolyn Plummer, Jim Colliton, Jimmy Cash, and Boston’s Dave Rattigan on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Cruiseport Gloucester. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

The Rotary Club of Gloucester MA will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Stage Fort Park, located on Hough Avenue in Gloucester, MA. This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, which is sponsored by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and is held in Stage Fort Park on Saturday-Sunday, August 19-20, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days. A special free parking area is available for Pancake Breakfast attendees.

2023 Calendar Theme: Gloucester 400
In 2023, Gloucester is celebrating its 400th birthday, and the Gloucester Rotary wants to celebrate this with its calendar. Please, submit photos that reflect the best of Gloucester. Only photographs from Gloucester will be accepted. A selection committee from the Rotary will make the choices. (a photo release must be included for all individuals in image)
Technical specifications & rules:
Horizontal, color, minimum size 12 x 8” digital .jpg files at 300 dpi, maximum size 12 mb. In your entry submission email, title and identify where the photos were shot (e.g., Smith Cove) and, if possible, the month they were created. Photo title must be in your file name (example: kayakers-smith cove-may.jpg). Make sure to give your name and contact info in the email with your entries, including your mailing address, phone number and email address. Because of the large number of entries we expect, entries that do not meet the minimum size requirements and/or photographers who fail to provide the required entry info will be automatically rejected. In addition, no copyright watermarks are to be embedded in the photos or they will be disqualified. A signed photo release form must be provided for all individuals in the image.
Photographers who submit photos understand that we may need to slightly crop or downsize the winning entries for printing purposes and accept this. We reserve the right to use low res files of winning entries to help advertising the sale of the calendar. Winning entrants will have the photo title or location and photographers name printed under the photo.

The Gloucester Rotary has named Tony Corrao as a Paul Harris Fellow, the prestigious award named after the Chicago lawyer who founded Rotary in 1905. Corrao was selected by a committee of previous recipients of the award, and will be honored at a special dinner on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Cruiseport Gloucester, located at 6 Rowe Square in downtown Gloucester. The social hour will begin at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm.
Corrao, perhaps better known as Uncle Tony, was born and raised in West Gloucester. He graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1977, and then spent 3½ years in the Army—serving at NASA’s Space Center in Alabama, Homestead, Florida, and Fort Bragg in North Caroline with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Upon his return to Gloucester, Tony founded Precision Roofing Services of New England in 1984. The company has been an important part of the Cape Ann economy for almost 40 years, providing solid jobs to several generations of laborers. In 2007, Corrao was the recipient of the Northeast Roofing Contractors’ Association President’s Award. After being nominated by his staff, he was named “Best Boss” of the year by the National Certified Contractor’s Network.
Corrao joined the Gloucester Rotary in 2002, and served as its President in 2011-2012. He is an active member of the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, working on several key committees and serving two terms on the Board of Directors. Tony is also a longtime member of the Friends of the Rose Baker Senior Center. His reputation as a volunteer is legendary, as is his willingness to put his trucks and his men to work on behalf of the City and numerous community organizations.
Tickets to the Paul Harris Dinner are $53 per person, and may be reserved by contacting event Chair Steve Kaity at 978-879-1051. The dinner is open to the general public, and friends and colleagues of Tony and Joanne, his wife of 25 years, are encouraged to attend.
The Gloucester Rotary will hold its annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11am at the Cape Ann Motor Inn on Long Beach, located at 33 Rockport Road in Gloucester. The event is part of Rotary International’s ongoing campaign to eradicate Polio in our lifetime. Dozens of Rotarians, Interact students (formerly known as Junior Rotarians), and friends of Rotary from throughout eastern Massachusetts are expected to plunge into the cold waters off Cape Ann. Since 2010, thousands of individuals and businesses have supported this event, and almost one million dollars has been raised for #EndPolioNow.
The eradication of Polio has been Rotary International’s signature cause since 1988. The organization has teamed up with partners including The Global Poverty Project, The Global Eradication Initiative, The World Health Organization, and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Since 1988, more than a billion dollars have been raised among Rotary clubs worldwide and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. When Rotary International took on the battle against this disease, more than 350,000 people spanning 125 countries were impacted by Polio each year. Today there are two countries left where Polio has not been eradicated—Pakistan and Afghanistan. In 2021, there were only five reported cases of wild Polio virus, down from 140 in 2020. Rotary International has committed to raising fifty million dollars in 2022, and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match each dollar raised with an additional $2 donation.
