Trivia Night to Benefit Rotary Programs

The Rotary Club of Gloucester will host a Trivia Night on Friday, March 23, at the Gloucester House, located at 63 Rogers Street in downtown Gloucester. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m.  Teams of four will compete for the title of Cape Ann Trivia Champions.  Register before March 16 and be entered to win a special Early Bird Registration raffle!

All trivia fans are invited to this fun night of knowledge and laughter. The registration fee is $100 for a team of four players.  Proceeds from this event will support programs of the Gloucester Rotary Club.  The night will also feature a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar, and light snacks for purchase. Backyard Growers is hosting three days of children’s workshops during February break for children grades K-5 packed with hands-on activities. Each day children will learn and discover more about food and gardening though activities such as: grinding wheat to flour, making and painting with plant dyes, holding and learning about worms, dressing up like a plant, and more!

Students: Apply NOW for GHS Summer Internship Program!

ATTENTION Gloucester High School Students and Parents:

Applications for 2018 summer jobs are now being accepted!

Apply for a GHS summer internship for July and August. Get a jump on your friends and nail down a summer job. THERE ARE ONLY 20 OPEN SLOTS, SO WE LOOK FORWARD TO REVIEWING YOUR APPLICATION ASAP!

As part of this internship you will:

  • Be matched with a local company where you will gain important workplace skills
  • Be paid minimum wage or a stipend
  • Start to build a solid resume for college and future endeavors

Internship highlights:

  • Open to students in 9th through 12th grades
  • Applications are available starting NOW!
  • Interviews will be conducted starting in March and we will let you know by April if you are accepted into the program
  • Employee orientation will be held in June
  • A 2.5 hour workplace skills workshop each Wednesday at GHS during the weeks of July 9th- August 17th, and an internship placement at least 10 hours per week (exact weeks/hours will depend on the employer but will mostly be over those 6 weeks)

• Get super creative with materials! Paint, Collage, Print, Mix it all up in new ways!
• Hold whale bones, listen to recording of whale songs, learn how scientists id whales by their tales, then write a story to tell us about your whale, it’s name, and create a collage of it’s tale with paint, papers, glitter. We’ll do these and more fun creative activities.

It’s Valentine’s this week and a great time to let our love for what we do shine! We want your art to help us show off the creativity of our community in our front window!

HOW IT WORKS: Email or Post your drawing or painting of a heart for Valentine’s Day (format should be square) and we’ll print it out and include it in a “quilt” of hearts to display in our front window . Drive by all this week to see the hearts go up in our window. We’ll be posting an album with art and your name if you’d like on Thursday. Send us your art today!
