Join us for the Great Rowing Adventure- the first collaborative rowing program with Lowell’s Boat Shop and the Essex Shipbuilding Museum! The program starts on Thursday, September 12, with a tour of Lowell’s Boat Shop. Then to Plum Island to board the rowing vessels, a Surf Dory built at Lowell’s and two Sharptown row boats built at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum. From the Joppa Flats, we will wend our way through the marsh and creeks ending the first day at Steep Hill Beach on the Crane Estate; a delicious meal will be provided in the Pine Grove, where we will camp for the night.
Next morning, we will get back into the boats to begin the magical journey through Fox Creek into Essex Bay stopping for lunch along the way. By afternoon we will be closing in on the end of our journey as we make our way up the Essex River to the Essex Shipbuilding Museum to learn about the 350 year tradition of shipbuilding in Essex. The finale of the trip is a dinner at a local Essex restaurant.

We will then drive to Plum Island to board the rowing vessels, a Surf Dory built at Lowell’s and two Sharptown row boats built at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum. We will end the first day at Steep Hill Beach on the Crane Estate; a delicious meal will be provided in the Pine Grove, where we will camp for the night.

SeniorCare Inc. will host its 47th Anniversary Gala Celebration on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Cruiseport Gloucester, located at 6 Rowe Square on the harbor in downtown Gloucester, MA. The Gala will feature a delicious dinner, awards to three community leaders and a Silent Auction. The Gala is presented by ABC Home Healthcare Professionals.
Gloucester Attorney Mark Nestor will be awarded with the Myra L. Herrick Outstanding Older American Award for his ongoing support of the Veterans’ Community and his work with the American Legion to provide home delivered meals on holidays to home-bound community members.
Judi Cox of Coxco Disposal will be presented with the Rosemary F. Kerry Community Service Award for her tireless efforts on behalf of the elder community, and her respect and empathy when addressing challenging circumstances.
Mary Crowe of Care Dimensions will be presented with the Board of Directors Community Partners Special Recognition award for her work as a trainer to caregivers and professional practitioners throughout the North Shore– giving them personal resources to perform difficult tasks with grace and empathy.

The Gloucester Rotary Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Stage Fort Park. This popular event takes place concurrently with the Gloucester Waterfront Festival, and a special free parking area is available for Pancake Breakfast attendees.
Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are $8 per person, $5 for children six and under, and are available in advance online at www.gloucesterrotary.org, from any Gloucester Rotarian or at the following Gloucester locations:
