Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner
Good afternoon: I am the Commander of the Cpt. Lester S. Wass American Legion American Legion Post No., 3. We are having our annual Thanksgiving Holiday meal on Thursday, November 24, 2016. It’s completely free. I’ve attached a flyer which explains the event. I would appreciate it if you could disseminate this. It’s open to all Cape Ann residents in need, including Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Essex and now Ipswich, especially veterans. As always, we are looking for volunteers. I want to reach as wide an audience as I can for the holiday. I don’t want anyone who needs a meal to be left out.
For God and Country

Department of Massachusetts, Inc.
Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner,
The American Legion, Post 3, will again deliver free Thanksgiving Holiday Dinners to the
elderly, shut-ins, veterans, and needy in the Cape Ann area on Thanksgiving, Thursday,
November 24, 2016. The American Legion Post No. 3’s mission is to insure that no one
goes without a holiday meal on this special day. Every year, many of our recipients are
veterans and/or their families. Often, the only individuals that these “special citizens” see
on these holidays are our drivers, who bring not only an outstanding holiday meal but
also a cheery greeting and smile. Our goal is to serve as many meals as we can. In light
of continuing economic hardship and cutbacks, the demand and requests for support
continues to rise and we want to meet it!
Volunteer Servers and Drivers are also needed for Thanksgiving Day. We will need servers
from 10:00am until approximately 12:45pm and drivers from 10:15am until all of the
meals have been delivered.
How to order and volunteer:
1. Call 978-283-9710 after 3:00 p.m. (and leave a message) 2. Call 978-283-7117 anytime (and
leave a message)
3. Email you request to nestorlaw@aol.com
Please make sure to clearly give your name, address, phone number and number of meals.
Deadline for meal orders and volunteer sign up:
6:00pm Monday, November 21, 2016.

Miriam Weinstein will be speaking at the Sawyer Free Library on Oct. 25 at 7pm, sponsored by the Gloucester Lyceum. She will be talking about her new book, All Set For Black, Thanks: A New Look At Mourning. Part memoir, part how-to, it ditches the sanctimony and gives us the help we actually need when dealing with grief. It is deeply felt and funny. Weinstein is a long time resident of Cape Ann.
