HIGH HOLIDAYS AT TEMPLE AHAVAT ACHIM

Dear TAA Members and Guests,
This year the High Holidays fall on the following dates*:
Rosh Hashanah – Monday-Tuesday, September 30-October 1
Kol Nidre – Tuesday, October 8
Yom Kippur (with Break-the-Fast) – Wednesday, October 9
In the past years, to accommodate Temple Ahavat Achim congregants attending High Holiday services, the city has allowed parking in legal parking spaces without charge and ticketing.
If you place a temporary parking permit on your dashboard, you won’t be ticketed. PARKING PERMITS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD on http://www.taagloucester.org
Handmade parking signs will not be recognized by the police!
PLEASE NOTE : DO NOT PARK ON MAIN STREET, ROGERS STREET, GLOUCESTER HOUSE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT, OR IN THE SAWYER FREE LIBRARY PARKING LOT BEHIND THE TEMPLE.
Any vehicles parked in these locations will be ticketed and the tickets will NOT be eligible for abatement by the City.
BABYSITTING services will be available on the First Day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur from 10:30 am to 1 pm.
TAA parking lot will be reserved for handicapped parking only. The hashed parking area will be needed for unloading and loading of wheelchairs.
St. John’s Episcopal Church has graciously allowed us to use their parking lot during the High Holidays for parking overflow. (First come – first serve.)

Arts Festival In The Shipyard
Join us at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum on September the 21st, from 4 PM to 7, for the 6th Annual Arts Festival In The Shipyard.
There will be a local art show and sale, makers table, lots of creative activities, food, music and fun for all the family. Activities include block printing, painted sails, shell painting, sharptown rowing and more.

Magnolia Cribbage League
Magnolia Cribbage League starts its fall session on Wednesday, September 4 at 6:30pm at J.D. Meyers Pub, 24 Lexington Ave, Magnolia. New players are welcome to join in this friendly game of cribbage. $45 covers 10 weeks of play plus a dinner and cash prizes. If you cannot commit to a 10-week session then consider substituting for a regular player. Arrive at 6:30pm to sign up and learn more about the league. Community Diaper Drive
The City of Gloucester Health Department, the YMCA, The Open Door, Pathways for Children and Sawyer Free Library are hosting a community diaper drive during the month of September. All diapers donated will benefit Gloucester families attending the Community Baby Shower on Saturday, October 5, 1 PM to 3 PM, at the Sawyer Free Library. Now’s Your Chance To Get A Low Number Cape Ann License Plate!
The second Online Auction for Low Number Cape Ann License Plates is open now through Sept 9!
Low number plates between C/A 2 and C/A 100 will be available to the highest bidders through an online auction Beginning today, Monday, August 26, 2019. All proceeds will go to the Cape Ann Community Foundation (CACF). The auction will conclude on Monday, September 9, 2019. Very soon every Massachusetts resident who wants to display their love and support for Cape Ann will have a second chance to secure a coveted low-number Cape Ann license plate.

“This is a great way for people to express their love for Cape Ann while supporting many worthy causes,” said Ruth Pino, President of the Cape Ann Community Foundation. “The proceeds from the auction will build the Foundation’s reserves and enable us to do even more for Cape Ann non-profits, schools and communities,” she added. This will be the second annual low number Cape Ann license plate auction held by the CACF. During the first auction last summer, the Foundation raised $80,000 from the sale of 33 low number plates, including C/A 1.
The CACF is a 501 (c) (3) charitable foundation. It was established by the Chamber to receive funding from Cape Ann license plate sales and renewals and make grants to Cape Ann communities and non-profit organizations.
