The Sargent House Museum invites you to attend our Free Back to School Internship Day on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 12:00 – 4:00 PM. While the event is free to the public, donations are encouraged in order to support our Summer High School Internship Program in the hopes of expanding the program in the future.
Unlike our traditional tours, the Back to School Internship Day is an opportunity for the public to explore the house at their leisure while our interns educate visitors in each room. The Summer High School Internship Program provided students with an opportunity to explore the life, times, writings, and home of Judith Sargent Murray, a pioneering advocate of women’s education and equality. That said, this event is the culminating event for the internship program which consisted of a ten-week project-based program individually designed and executed by each intern. Interns’ projects explored areas of Curatorial Studies; Photography, Media, and Collections; and Development and Event Planning.
The Sargent House Museum seeks to empower women and men, young and old, to value women’s education and equality for the benefit of the common good. We hope you will join us in support of our interns and our mission. We would also like to thank those institutions that supported the Summer High School Internship Program this summer through educational tours and programs, including but not limited to: the Folklore Theater, the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, and the Cape Ann Museum.
